Neil when rescued

Neil when rescued

Neil was rescued on 30 September 2024.  He was found in a sack NORSU BAJUMPANDAN, in a terribly bad state, suffering from mange, infested with ticks  and starving to death.

Neil RIP

Neil RIP

We are not sure exactly why he died but his red blood cell count was critically low when we rescued him and his skin lesions were extensive, causing a systemic infection.  All we can do is clean them up, treat what's treatable, and hope they have reserves of strength to keep fighting.

Sadly for Neil, this was just a step too far, and he passed away peacefully during the night of 2 October 2024.  Rest in peace Neil - we hope you felt some peace and comfort in the time you spent with us.

Nellie

Nellie

Nellie was a dog with one of the worst-looking infections we've seen in our years of rescuing dogs.  She made a miraculous recovery, but we knew that her stage 4 kidney disease was too far gone to give her anything more than palliative care and relief.  She was starting to experience the pain that often comes in the very final stages.

We helped her cross over to prevent her from experiencing unnecessary suffering on 30 September 2024. She passed surrounded by the utmost of love, me Angel and Rudylyn held her and told her what a good girl she was and how much joy she had brought to so many people. We only had her for 5 months but we are so grateful we were able to a least let her know how it felt to be truly loved and cared for.

You can read more about Nellie on her profile page here.

Thank you to everyone who has loved Nellie from afar and to her sponsors who helped us to give her everything she needed to fight as long as she did.

She died almost to the hour that Shaun passed last year. I'm sure he came to pick her up.

Run free our sweet little Nellie girl.

Nikki Adopt a Stray

Nikki

Nikki RIP

Nikki RIP

Nikki was rescued on 24 September 2024, and was due to be re-homed with her reporter.  She was one of only a handful from a litter of 9 stray puppies to survive the first 24 hours. She had a bad neck wound that was infested with many maggots.

Sadly, despite our best efforts, she died in her sleep five days later.  We're so sorry we couldn't save her - she had a home to go to and a future to look forward to which she will never know.

Ori – Adopt a Stray

Ori

Ori

Ori

In October 2024, under our Adopt a Stray programme, we rescued Ori from Valencia.  He had a very swollen face, maybe some kind of infection.  We had to put a cone on him to stop him scratching, but he's still super-friendly!  the great news is that he's been returned to a new home, but not the one originally planned!  Read more here.

Sissy

Sissy

Sissy RIP

Sissy RIP

Sissy was dumped outside the Sanctuary on 26 September 2024, and she was very week and dehydrated.  We are working with all our might towards a future where spaying and neutering of the local population reduces the number of new, unwanted lives that we are being forced to deal with.

We will never know why Sissy passed away the following evening, but are desperately sad that the fight to humanely control the stray population in our locality is such a long and difficult struggle.  We're sorry we couldn't save her from the fate dealt to her, through no fault of her own.
