Shaun
Shaun was rescued some two hours away from us in April 2021. A hit-and-run victim, he was initially unable to move. He regained his mobility, only to catch Distemper, which he battled back from. Then a cancerous growth took his eye, and most recently, Heartworm has been diagnosed.
Despite all this, he is a fighter, and has won friends and followers around the world willing Shaun to thrive and survive.

Shaun's Story
Shaun was first found lying amongst garbage unable to move. He was crying in pain, and had clearly been hit by a vehicle.

He was 2 hours away from Dumaguete but luckily one of our supporters Rosie (who lives in Australia) asked her family who lived nearby to bring him to the shelter. Shaun was in a bad way when he arrived and x-rays showed he had a broken pelvis and a broken front leg.

Because he was so young at the time (around 3 months old), his fractures completely healed on their own. But just as he started to thrive, he was struck down with distemper. Although he survived he was left with neurological issues in the form of twitches and for a while it looked like he might not survive. Neurological distemper leaves dogs vulnerable to seizures.
Despite his twitching he lives life to the full, playing, very much enjoying his food and being one of the office dogs he gets a comfy bed and aircon when he wants it.

But Shaun's troubles didn't stop there. He developed a cancerous growth of his eye resulting in him losing it. Yet despite this disability he carried on being the Shaun that we love. Feisty, playful grumpy, loving, and a warrior!
Now after all of that, he tested positive for heartworm - a particularly nasty parasite that involves lengthy treatment. We tested him 6 months ago and he was negative so hopefully he hasn't had it long enough to cause much damage.
