Story:
In February 2026, we received a dog who had been involved in a hit and run incident and was now floundering in a river.
Originally, because we were so full, her reporters were trying to find a home for her under our Adopt a Stray Scheme - they called her River. However, on investigating her injuries, it became clear that River would never regain the use of her back legs which means that any future adoption home would have to be very specialised to look after her.
River did recover from her ordeal but she has no use of both her hind legs and so Sadly, the reporter's home would not have been a viable option. She now resides in our Special Needs Unit at the new Sanctuary and is a sweet girl, who is never demanding but does like to have a head scritch and a chin rub. Luckily, our new unit is specially designed for dogs with limited mobility so she scoots around fine, lifting her legs behind her. Such a pretty girl looking for a sponsor.
