Sissy RIP

Sissy RIP

Sissy was dumped outside the Sanctuary on 26 September 2024, and she was very week and dehydrated.  We are working with all our might towards a future where spaying and neutering of the local population reduces the number of new, unwanted lives that we are being forced to deal with.

We will never know why Sissy passed away the following evening, but are desperately sad that the fight to humanely control the stray population in our locality is such a long and difficult struggle.  We're sorry we couldn't save her from the fate dealt to her, through no fault of her own.

Mouse RIP

Mouse was the victim of a hit-and-run on 23 September 2024.  He was very thin and weak, and we couldn't bare the thought of him dying alone on the street, so rushed to pick him up. On initial testing, Mouse was negative for all tick borne diseases which was unsual given his stray status, but he had a faint line on the parvo tests. We believe it was likely parvo combined with severe emaciation and worm infestation that was just too much for his little body to take.

Lloyd, our night vet assistant, noticed that Mouse was having difficult breathing. He had vomited a few times and was pooping blood. Lloyd administered first aid and tried to revive him, but he didn't make it.  At least he had 36 hours with us and knew safety comfort and love.

Perla

Perla

During the worst time any of us can remember, we had a number of dogs die suddenly of an illness we were never able to identify. They suddenly became lethargic and unresponsive and died shortly after.

Perla was rescued from a garbage bin outside the shelter as a tiny puppy. Someone had dumped her and closed the lid, but luckily, the staff found her in time. She was a really healthy, lively girl, so it was shocking that she died so suddenly with little warning.

She was a loving bundle of fun, who will be fondly remembered for he playfulness.

During the worst time any of us can remember, we had a number of dogs die suddenly of an illness we were never able to identify. They suddenly became lethargic and unresponsive and died shortly after.

Andreas was a senior dog that was reported near death, lying on a step in the street. He had a severe parasite infection and was thin and dehydrated. He had lived with us and known love and care since December 2022.

He lived out his remaining years in comfort and knew love at the end.

Tibor

During the worst time any of us can remember, we had a number of dogs die suddenly of an illness we were never able to identify. They suddenly became lethargic and unresponsive and died shortly after.

Tibor was reported in January 2024, living in a garbage dump with people throwing stones at him. He was very thin and full of mange. Like Murphy, he was terrified when he came to us, but in a couple of months, he was strutting around as if he owned the place!

We are missing his energy and boisterousness!
