Dog Update

Stan Update March 2021

Stan has had a pretty good month in terms of his health, though like a lot of the dogs here, he has developed a fungal condition on his skin, which makes it a little patchy. We have to bath him using Mycocide shampoo twice a week for around a month to get rid of it.
He also developed a cough in the last few days, nothing serious so we are just supplementing his food with Vitamin C.

The good news is that we leashed trained him this month! One of our volunteers Patti , has been working with him.  Leash training makes a dog so much more adoptable.

Leah Update March 2021

Leah is really finding her voice now - barking at dogs that are annoying her, growling at dogs that encroach on her space! It's great to see as she was so fearful for so long. She can really hold her own!

Her health has been good this month with no major issues.
We also leash trained her so now she goes out for regular walks.
We bathed her today and took her for a walk

Snoopy Update March 2021

The big news this month is that he and his girlfriend Sheila seem to have split up. They have been side by side for months, always sleeping next to each other and following each other around then suddenly around 10 days ago, they were at opposite ends of the shelter and now are never together.

We have no idea what happened!

He has also been up to his usual antics of biting people when they come to the shelter.

He doesn’t seem to bite women but frequently charges out of nowhere and nips at mens' ankles!  He is terrorizing our new vet!

Health wise he has had a good month – no health issues and he is regularly taken out for a walk now – he loves going on the leash

Edith Update March 2021

Edith has had a good month this month except we took the crate away that she and Alice used to stay in as we are trying to make more space around the caretakers room.
She still stays inside their area but now sleeps on a mat on the floor.
She has had no health problems this month and is as cheeky as ever at meal times.
We started leash training her in the last week but she is a little resistant at first and then she is ok once she starts.

Norman Update March 2021

Norman was neutered this month and let out into the general population. He stayed away from everyone initially but after a week or so he started mixing with a few of the other dogs.  These old street dogs that we bring in take a long time to be socialised as they are so wary if not fearful of people.

Norman likes Rudylyn, our vet assistant and she can pick him up and stroke him - but for now, he won't let anyone near him.
We just need one person to work with him for a month or two and then he is likely to be much more sociable with people in general.

His neuter went well but then a couple of days after his surgery, he developed an infection in his surgical wound on his testicle and so we had to put him back in quarantine to administer treatment in the form of antibiotics.

His hair is starting to grow back - here is Rudylyn giving him his antibiotic tablet. Hopefully next month he will be more sociable
