Riley adopted!

Riley Adopted!

Riley adopted

A little female pup staff found on the way to work was rescued on 12 April 2022.  She won our hearts, she was so playful and lovable, so it came as no surprise to us when Sam and her family arrived to take her home!  Sam is well known to DAS as she adopted Tommy back in 2020, so we know Riley is in a great home!  There are more where she came from, so check out our dogs ready for adoption here.

Elmo

Elmo

On 15 April 2022, Rina our Sanctuary Manager found this poor little boy on her way to work. We were really pushing our limits, financially and space-wise, but of course we brought him in and called him Elmo. We gave him a good bath, and on discovering he had a worm infestation, began treatment immediately.

Elmo

If we can get to infested puppies soon enough, we can prevent irreversible damage to internal organs, but it was not to be for Elmo. On 25 April 2022, Elmo died. He was a sweet soul that deserved better, but we tried out best for him, and we think he knew that.

Piper

Piper

On 26 March 2022, little Piper was picked up by one of our volunteers Bree. After some medical care and a bath, she started to make good progress. She was a playful little thing, and we had high hopes for her, but on the night of 25 April 2022, Piper had a sudden unexpected seizure and died.

She was active and playful until it happened and we have no idea why. Its possible that she received some sort of head trauma before rescue while on the streets, but we have know way of knowing. She never had much chance of a life, but at least she knew love and companionship during her short time here.

Lemon adopted!

Lemon Adopted!

Lemon adopted

One of four puppies abandoned in March 2022, Lemon was adopted today by Jessa, Erwin, and Angelie.  All four pups had Parvovirus, so spent their isolation time away from other dogs until they tested clear.  They seem to have no lingering problems, and Lotus, Lacey and Lexi are all waiting their turn!  Check out our dogs ready for adoption here.

Tinkerbelle Adopted!

Tinkerbelle Adopted!

Tinkerbelle at her new home

Our third adoption today was Tinkerbelle!!!
As many of you know, Tinkerbelle had a spine injury so we wanted an adopter with no other dogs and who could also afford surgery if needed in the future.
We had no luck finding an adopter and Tinkerbelle has been in a cage for 6 months. There are too many dogs at the shelter to let her out safely.
Henrik and his son Dong, long term volunteers and supporters of DAS wanted to adopt Tink from when we first rescued her. They came up regularly to take her for walks and Dong took Tink for all her laser therapy appointments.

She adores them both and gets so excited when she sees them.
Here she is today when they came to visit her.  A few weeks ago we had long talks with the team and Henrik and decided that the best place for her is with Henrik, Dong and Henrik's wife Elvie.
Although they have other dogs we prefer that Tink has a good life and no longer has to stay in a cage.  They have a big place and there is always someone at home so she will always be supervised.
So Tinkerbelle left the Sanctuary today and has found her home - read all about her long road to recovery on her profile page here.

Check out our growing list of wonderful dogs waiting for a new family.
