The Universe must be looking out for us! Not long after we took in the three puppies this morning, Penn, Perry and Clara were adopted by Mikaela and her family.  3 in 3 out!!!
Little Penn and Perry had a rough start, overcoming Parvo and various ailments in their early days, and Clara was one of many abandoned puppies that came to us in recent weeks.  We are delighted to see this fledgling family pack move on with their lives with hope and love.

Another great Adoption Sunday at Robinsons Mall Dumaguete, where Lotus and Liam were adopted by Terry and Pia respectively.  It's especially wonderful to see adult dog Lotus find a home - every adopted frees up space for another rescue, but adult dogs seem more difficult to home.  A big thank you to our hardworking volunteers and Staff who stood in the heat all day trying to raise donations - Estella, Richard, Yorica, Angel and Gemma.
Thank you to all the people who came out to support us and bring donations of cash and much needed goods AND to all the people who sent in money via BPI and GCash - we raised an amazing 17,676.5 pesos!  And of course a huge thank you to the adopters who have taken Lotus and Liam into their home.  We are so lucky and grateful to get so much support from the community.

We have some terribly sad news - Gracie passed away the morning of 3 September 2022.
We knew saving her was a long shot as she had kidney failure when we rescued her. We were hoping that it was not chronic kidney disease and that with medication she would recover, but her kidneys were too far gone.
Rina was with her so she didn't die alone, in fact she has never been alone since we rescued her as we have round the clock care for all our critical cases - three staff on night shift.

Gracie really did fight hard to survive and was eating right up until the end. If a dog is eating we are always hopeful.  We gave her the ceremony that we give all the animals that pass at the Sanctuary.  Run free Gracie - we are sorry we couldn't save you.

RIP The Unknown Soul

On Wednesday 24 August we had reports of a dog injured in a hit-and-run.  With the Sanctuary at capacity, no spare funds, and a reliance on external vet services, we appealed for urgent funds to assist.  Donors did not disappoint, with many small donations arriving, amounting to over 11,000php.

Despite this, we were just too late, and the dog passed away minutes before we arrived.  We brought the dog back to at least give it a proper burial.
These cases are truly heart-breaking but it helps to know that so many people care and are willing to help.  The funds we collected will be able to help a poor cat we called Tom, who has a severe skin disease of some kind and can't open its eyes.  In some small way, we hope that Tom will be the beneficiary of the poor Unknown Soul we were unable to help this time.
