Diana Adopted (third time’s a charm!)

Diana Adopted!

Diana was one of the very few unlucky adoptions that gets returned to the Sanctuary by the initial adopter.  Apparently she was so scared she didn't come out from under the couch and the bed.  We really can't understand why as she is the sweetest friendliest little girl.
She was adopted once more, and the same thing happened and she came back to us again.

We were going to hold back on adopting Diana again given that she was already returned twice, but then a lovely couple wanted to adopt her. They knew of her history and that made them more adamant that they wanted her.
The first night was a success. They were waiting for her to hide under the couch or bed but instead she jumped up and slept on the bed with them and their other dog.
Thanks Jesi and Veronica for giving Diana another chance at having her own family.  We guess she just needed to find her people

Elsa Adopted!

Elsa Adopted!

Elsa one of our older dogs who has been at the shelter for two years got adopted by Mark, who adopted Jake a few months ago. With all adult dogs we allow a period of adjustment to see if they can adapt to their new home. Let's hope Elsa and Jake fall in love

You can read more about Elsa's story on her profile page here.

Pamela Adopted!

Pamela Adopted!

We have some wonderful news to share!  Our little disabled dog Pamela was adopted by our shelter manager Rina and her partner Dex.  They have already adopted 3 dogs from DAS, Mimi, Mina and Chloe.
Pamela was rescued in June 2020 after she was reported dragging herself around the streets. She had apparently been run over a couple of months prior and her broken legs had already fused again in positions that made it difficult to walk. There was nothing that could be done for her.
She was fostered by Doc Riv Aballe along with Poppy.  Poppy and Pamela became inseparable and when Poppy was adopted in November last year, Pamela lost her best friend.  Dex couldn't bear to see her lonely so on New Year's Day, they took her home.
Despite Pamela's disability she has a good quality of life and can get herself around easily And plays with other dogs.  She settled into her new home immediately, happy to sleep on a bed for the first time probably in her life.  Thank you Cherrie for sponsoring Pamela while she was at the Sanctuary.  We will miss you Pamela but so happy you now have your own family! Pamela is the white dog on the right

Jessie Adopted!

Jessie Adopted!

We have some wonderful news on the very last day of the year.  Our volunteer Pati and her partner Frans have adopted Jessie.
We rescued Jessie as a young pup in late 2020 because locals in her area were going to kill her, fearing she may have rabies. She wasn't showing any signs, she was just a terrified little pup trying to defend and protect herself.
She was really antisocial at the shelter until she met Pati, and she felt comfortable immediately with her. She absolutely loved Pati and would wait at the gate for her on the days Pati came to the shelter.
The love was totally mutual, and on the night of Typhoon Odette (16 December 2021) Pati took her home to foster until the storm had passed - and couldn't bring her back!!! Another wonderful outcome for a dog that would never survived if it wasn't for all our wonderful donors who make DAS possible.  Thanks Pati and Frans.

You can read more about Jessie's miraculous recovery on her profile page here.

Franze Adopted!

Franze Adopted!

Franze has been adopted!   He is the very old dog who had a huge tumor hanging from his neck. We initially thought he was a stray but after rescuing him, we found out he had an owner who couldn't afford the treatment. Plus Franze lived in a very rural area around 40km from the nearest vet.
We were going to keep Franze at the shelter but like many old dogs, he spent all his time pacing up and down the fence trying to get out.
It's only a matter of time before dogs who do this, escape.
We decided he would be safer and much happier back in the place where he spent all of his life, so we asked if anyone who knew him would take care of him.

A lady called Sheila, from Franze's village messaged us and offered to adopt him. She already knows him and he was really happy to see her.  We're sure you will be much happier now Franz!  We will keep in touch with Sheila and help out with any further health issues.
Franze is neutered, vaccinated and dewormed.  You can read more about Star's miraculous recovery on her profile page here.
