Natalie adopted!

Natalie Adopted!

Natalie adopted

We have some awesome news!  Natalie, the huge bundle of energy and life that we were worried would be too much for an adopter to take on, has found her home!  She is very intense and has been caged pretty much all her life. She is very hyper and distractible.  You can check out her profile page here.

There was a lot of interest in Natalie, as she is part Rottweiler, part Labrador, but she never showed much interest in adopters when they came.  She has been known to be aggressive towards some dogs at the Sanctuary and she has a very high level of energy so it was important for us that she went to the right home.

We don't let our dogs go with anyone who wants to adopt. Even of they qualify according to the criteria we watch how the potential adopter responds to dogs generally at the Sanctuary and how they interact with the dog they want.  If we have any concerns we don't let the adoption go through.

Natalie's adopter Kisha followed Natalie's story since we rescued her from the City Pound at Christmas 2021.  She wanted to adopt an adult dog but wanted to see the dogs first and see who she connected with.  She really took her time and was at the Sanctuary for hours. We loved the way she interacted with the dogs.  She decided she would take Natalie so given Natalie's challenges we said we would do a trial.
Kisha has other dogs, 2 of which can be aggressive so we supported Kisha for a couple of coming weeks as a trial adoption.
It's wonderful when our more challenging dogs are given a chance.
So far she is relaxed, calm and settling in well, and her adoption papers were signed today!
