Jack

Jack in recovery

On 27 July 2021, Jack was reported as lying by the side of the road, unmoving, for hours on end, by the time we reached Jack he was having seizures.  Luckily, the fits subsided, and after treating him for dehydration and malnutrition, he is well on the  way to recovery.

He is a very happy, gentle lad, and would fit in with any loving family.

Jack's Story

On 27 July 2021, we got a report of a dog that was seen on the side of the road initially at 8am and still there at 2pm.
The reporter was concerned that it was injured or sick as it hadn't moved all day and was refusing food and water.
Unsure what to do the reporter called us and we went out to assess the situation.

By the time we got there there the dog had just started having seizures so we were worried that it was another rabies case.
But the dog was not aggressive at all so hopefully it was something else.

His recovery was so rapid we believe he was suffering from dehydration and malnutrition.  His blood tests were not really too concerning, he had liver inflammation, which we treated.  Once he has recovered fully and has been fully vaccinated and neutered, he will be up for adoption.

Jack adopted!

Jack Adopted!

Adoptions often cause us mixed feelings, especially with older dogs as we have loved and cared for them for so long, we feel like we are abandoning them.
Many have become so attached to staff that we worry they will not adjust.
For this reason we ONLY let adult dogs go if we are sure they will have a better life than they get at the shelter, and if they can bond with their new owners.
We rescued Jack on July 27th 2021, almost 3 years to the day.
He was found by one of our supporters, lying on the side of the road having seizures. Likely he'd been hit by a car.
One of his front legs had to be amputated.

Honey

Honey

He never really bonded with other dogs until we rescued honey, and the two were inseparable after that.
Olga who adopted honey, decided to adopt Jack last week. Honey is a little aloof with him at the moment but he immediately bonded with Olga and settled in, following her around everywhere.
Thank you Olga, Noel and Abby for all that you do to help us out and give our rescues a wonderful home.
