In January 2024, we got a report of a poor dog living in the middle of a garbage dump. He was very thin and riddled with mange. We took him in and called him Tibor.

Tibor's Story
On 25 January 2024, we we rescued three dogs, and Tibor was the third call. He was in a desperate state, and clearly not long for this world.
Staff were supposed to be out celebrating our vet assistant Kurt's birthday. Instead, they went out in the dark searching the dump site for this poor soul.

It's not easy to catch strays as they are often wary of humans, understandably. The lady who reported the dog said people had been throwing stones at him.

He was screaming and trying to bite when Richard tried to pick him up. We do have thick bite gloves, but with rescues like this, the thick unwieldy gloves make it difficult to get a good grip of the dog. I'm so proud of the team we have, they go to extraordinary lengths to save lives.

Tibor tested positive for babesia, anaplasma and ehrlichia, all of which he is receiving treatment for, and we hope we caught it early. He's started to trust us, but with a life of abuse from humans, it's going to be a while before he's completely at ease. We saw a big improvement in his condition after just 10 days, so we are hopeful.
