CADEN

Caden

In April 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we rescued a dog with a very badly infected head wound. He is called Caden. It took some time to treat the wound, as maggots had already started to multiply, and he was very malnourished.  We decided that it was best for him to have an extended stay at the Sanctuary, and felt it only fair to release the prospective adopters from waiting to home him.  He has made a slow recovery, but we are convinced the right home is out there for him.

WARNING - CADEN'S HEAD WOUND INFECTION WAS SEVERE, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.

Caden's Story

On 15 April 2024, took in Caden, hoping to rehabilitate him and return him to his reporters once he was well enough.  It's been a long journey for poor old Caden, and we felt that the situation he would be returned to might not be the best for his long term prospects of living a long and healthy life.

We took out as much dead and infected tissue as we could, and closed up his wound, dressing his head in an attractive blue gauze bandage. He had to wear this for some time, as the wound area was large.

The wound has now healed over, and he is slowly growing more comfortable in his surroundings at the Sanctuary.  He can still be a bit wary with strangers, but when he gets to know you, he's a real softy!

Caden During the worst time any of us can remember, we had a number of dogs die suddenly of an illness we were never able to identify. They suddenly became lethargic and unresponsive and died shortly after. We rescued Caden in April 2024 with a severe head wound and very thin. He was initially part of Click to see post….
