WARNING - SIMON'S HEAD WOUNDS WERE SEVERE, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.

In March 2024, we received a report of a dog wandering the Dauin market late at night foraging for scraps, with a terribly infested headwound.  It took a while to find him, but eventually we rescued him and began his rehabilitation.  We called him Simon.

Simon's Story

On 23 March 2024, we responded to a call from a reporter in Dauin about a dog scavenging late at night at the public market.  Our amazing team would not give up and around 930pm at night they spotted him.
They were in tears when they finally got him
One ear has been eaten away by infection, likely from an old wound that became infested with maggots.

We are hopeful of recovery as we have treated a lot of wounds like this successfully with laser therapy and manuka honey.  We called him Simon. We are really lucky to have found him when we did. He wouldn't have lasted more than a couple of weeks.
Now, he will never go hungry again. He will never be hurt. He will always have a safe and comfortable place to sleep.  He has a really good appetite which is great!  And he absolutely loves getting outside for walks - he is very comfortable with a leash which probably means he had an owner once.
