SHILAH

Shilah

Shilah was rescued from the streets of Dumaguete by our adoption manager Estella in November 2022.  She had an injury to her eye which needed treatment, and a large number of puncture wounds, possibly from long-term abuse.  With some care, she recovered but we're still looking to find a forever home.

Shilah

Shiloh's Story

Estella our Adoption Manager was out in the city and saw this poor girl. Our rescue team were not available so she immediately went home got a cage and went back to find the dog.
Luckily she was able to lure her into the cage with food and brought her to the Sanctuary.

She was clearly another victim of human cruelty as she has multiple puncture wounds and evidence that she has been hit over the head causing a possible skull fracture and damaged eye. We did a full blood panel at the Sanctuary and luckily all her internal organs were fine. She also tested negative for distemper.

We originally hoped that her eye could be saved, but the damage was too severe, and we removed it.  She remained fearful and timid for some time after her physical recovery, and we took the decision in 2024 to move her to the relative quiet of the Vets House, accommodation for the volunteer vets for time to time, and home to timid and picked-upon dogs.  Given the likely abuse she has suffered under human hands, it's remarkable she is as placid and accommodating as she is.  We hope for the best life for her from now on.
