In July 2024, we found a mother dog with three puppies tied up and abandoned near the Sanctuary. We had already declined to take them in as we had no space, but the people abandoned them anyway. We called the puppies Oli, Orli and Onyx.

Onyx's Story
On 5 July 2024, some people turned up at the Sanctuary wanting to hand over a nursing mother dog, Odette, and her three puppies. We are always so stretched for resources, we try to prioritise critical cases, and encouraged them to try to find homes for the puppies.

They decided a more cowardly (and illegal) route, and tied the mother up out of sight, but still close to the Sanctuary, and left. Odette was only found from her sobs and cries by our staff on a walk a few days later. Happily, we found homes for Oli and Orli, but Onyx is left waiting for her forever home.
