Noodle

In May 2024, we took a number of dogs with similar but different conditions affecting their eyes. In Noodle's case, she had a badly infected headwound with many maggots.  She would not have survived much longer on the streets.

WARNING - NOODLE'S HEAD WOUND WAS SEVERE, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.

Noodle's Story

On 18 May 2024, we rescued Noodle with a terrible maggot-infested head wound and an old leg injury. Tests showed that she was severely anaemic with a high level bacterial infection.
We started her on medications and also wound management with manuka honey and laser therapy. It took a few months, but now she's pretty much completely healed!

People ask why there are so many dogs in such terrible shape. The problem is there are thousands of strays who get wounds from various causes: intensive scratching from mange, fights, and yes sometimes abuse from people. These wounds become infected and then infested with maggots.

Noodle just needed a chance to stablise, recover from the infection and have the wound close over.  It looked bad, but just look at her now!
