Hamlet

Rescued in September 2021, Hamlet had been horribly abused, with most of his tail hacked off and rotting. With the generosity of some of our most faithful supporters, we have removed the rest of his tail, and also his right eye that looked like it was poked out.

Hamlet's Story

Reported on 24 September 2021, Hamlet's tail had been hacked off, and was a festering stump. He had numerous other scars, as well as having been blinded in his right eye.

Hamlet (so called because he bears a strong resemblance to recent adoptee Ophelia) underwent surgery, and as soon as he was stable, he had further surgery on his eye, which could not be saved.

For a while, understandably, he wasn't a particularly friendly rescue, but when he realised the power of cuddles from staff and volunteers, he changed his tune! He is very much a softy now, although occasionally he will make a bit on a woof at any other dog that gets in the way of his scritches!
