In December 2024, we received reports mother dog and her puppies being thrown from a vehicle into the bushes at the side of the road. A heartless action that is not only inhumane, but also illegal. We called the mother Glimmer, as in "a Glimmer of Hope".

Glimmer's Story
On 18 December 2024, a reporter contacted us saying they witnessed a white SUV pulling up near their property, and someone throwing a mother dog and 7 puppies into the undergrowth and driving off. It was very dark and late at night so the reporter couldn't make a positive ID.

They looked for the mother but she had disappeared into the undergrowth so they called us. We went out and found them. This is so hard. We have no space at all yet we keep getting these requests. We desperately need to move into our new shelter.
We have taken in 13 more souls in two days. We literally cannot cope with any more. We called the mother Glimmer.
Glimmer when rescued
It's clear this was an owned dog, who had an unwanted litter and so became yet another of the Philippines' abandoned souls, thrown away like trash. What is particularly disgusting about this event is that cars such as the one observed during the incident are luxury items, beyond the financial reach of the majority of the population. The abandoners have the funds and means to take care of their pets, yet they chose a coward's solution to their problem. This is not ignorance or poverty-driven desperation - this is callous cruelty.
