Coco

In December 2023, this little puppy was rescued on a neighbouring island by a tourist. The puppy had third-degree burns likely from having hot oil or water thrown over him.  Despite this he is a bundle of joy and the home he hopefully goes to will be ever so lucky! He is called Coco.

Coco's Story

On 16 December 2023, Coco was rescued by a tourist on holiday on Siquijor, one of our neighbouring islands.  His rescuer took him to a local vet for initial treatment but then had to leave. She could have easily just left him and carried on with her holiday but instead she put her plans on hold to save this little boy’s life and brought him to us at DAS.

At the time of rescue it was hoped that Coco could be adopted and sent to Denmark to live with his rescuer. Unfortunately, the logistics and the authorisations needed to prepare him for his international journey proved to be too complex so it was not possible to go ahead.

We used manuka honey and laser therapy and within a few days there was a huge difference in Coco's wounds. After months of recovery he is now nearly fully recovered and his fur has largely grown back. Despite what must have been a horrific ordeal, Coco is a very friendly and playful boy who just loves attention and has a lot of energy. He is good with children and other dogs and would be perfect for adoption into a loving family environment. He really hope to find him a permanent home very soon.
