JESSIE

jessie

Jessie was rescued in November 2020 after reports that she was to be killed as she may bite the local children.

She was a stray puppy, badly malnourished and full of mange.

She is much changed now!

jessie'S STORY

Jessie was a stray puppy, probably only 3 months old when she was rescued.  She had a severe infestation of Mange, but luckily that is highly treatable.  Her appearance may have contributed to the concerns of locals that she may pass on some disease to humans if she bit.

She was so timid when we got her – shaking like a leaf.

Jessie before rescue

We put her in the puppy run with the other puppies after she had been in quarantine for a week. She was quite a bit older than the other puppies so she ended up mothering them a little and letting them cuddle up to her.

Jessie and Pati

One of our volunteers Patti, spent a lot of time with her socializing her so now she is pretty friendly.

She is still shy with strangers, but over time she may get more confident, and we hope get adopted.

This sad short video shows Jess after she was rescued, and the microscope we have to check for types of infestation.

Jessie Adopted!

Jessie Adopted!

We have some wonderful news on the very last day of the year.  Our volunteer Pati and her partner Frans have adopted Jessie.
We rescued Jessie as a young pup in late 2020 because locals in her area were going to kill her, fearing she may have rabies. She wasn't showing any signs, she was just a terrified little pup trying to defend and protect herself.
She was really antisocial at the shelter until she met Pati, and she felt comfortable immediately with her. She absolutely loved Pati and would wait at the gate for her on the days Pati came to the shelter.
The love was totally mutual, and on the night of Typhoon Odette (16 December 2021) Pati took her home to foster until the storm had passed - and couldn't bring her back!!! Another wonderful outcome for a dog that would never survived if it wasn't for all our wonderful donors who make DAS possible.  Thanks Pati and Frans.

You can read more about Jessie's miraculous recovery on her profile page here.
