Bob adopted!

Bob Adopted!

We're back at Robinsons Mall Dumaguete for one weekend a month, and already one of Rubor's puppies has found a new home.  Bob was adopted by Jessica, who was the student who first alerted us to the sad situation of Rubor and her newborn puppies back in Decemeber 2021.  She raised funds to enable us to take in Rubor and give her the care she needed to raise her puppies safely.  Jessica renamed Bob - Rogan!  Thanks Jessica for saving Rubor and her puppies.

Suki

Suki

Suki died in the early hours of 28 January 2021.
Since her rescue in 2019, she seemed to be bullet-proof, surviving Parvovirus and Distemper.  In January she began to show signs of listlessness and distress, and we ran some tests, coming up with a double-diagnosis of two very debilitating diseases Erlichiosis and Anaplasmosis.

We had given her every possible medication but she just couldn't overcome it.
Adrian was doing night shift at the Sanctuary and when Suki's breathing became laboured he called Rina and Rachelle who came back to the Sanctuary immediately. They also had Doc Desiree instructing them what to do, but Suki's platelets were non-existent and she hemorrhaged.

We all loved Suki so much. We had her from a tiny puppy when we rescued her with her mum Fury two-and-a-half years ago.  Read more about Suki's life before and after rescue on her Profile Page.

Katrina’s puppies find new homes

Katrina's puppies find a new home

During our residency at Robinson's Mall Dumaguete before Christmas 2021, we managed to find homes for 4 of Katrina's puppies - they had no names, so the families named them Sky, Goji, Ragi and Cooper.  There are still another 5 to find homes for though!!

Cooper adopted by Charry

Ragi and Goji adopted

Ragi and Goji adopted by Bryan and family

Sky adopted

With the kindness and support of Robinson's Mall Dumaguete, we'll be there again once a month, starting Saturday, January 29th and 30th. If you'd like to adopt one of our dogs please message our Inbox - to see all our dogs visit the Our Dogs page

Lauren returns

Lauren Returns

Some days we encounter situations where we have no words.  Today was one of those days.  As you know, we try as hard as possible to encourage responsible pet ownership, and do our very best to screen adopters. We literally turn down about 80 percent of people that apply. But we are not psychic or profilers so sometimes dogs end up with people they shouldn't.  We provide free yearly vaccination, spay / neuter and also free vet consultation for life. We are probably the only shelter in the world that does this, at great cost to the Sanctuary.  So we at least expect adopters to do their part, which includes bringin the dog in if it is sick or contact us if there is a problem.
All our dogs remain very dear to us.
So we were really shocked and utterly heart-broken when Lauren was brought back to the shelter.
She was spayed 3 weeks ago and the adopters did not pick her up for a few days. That's not so much of a problem but when she left her surgical wound was healing.  They were given instructions on how to care for her post surgery, but apparently her wound got infected and instead of contacting us they left it until a neighbor contacted us and brought her in.  The infection was so bad her insides were rotting, she had zero platelets and red blood cells and needed an emergency transfusion. Luckily Delfin is big enough and healthy enough to donate blood so Lauren received a transfusion this afternoon.  As of 22 January, Lauren appears to be stabilising.  We will hopefully get her back to full strength, and begin the process of finding her a new, more caring home.

Why we need foster carers

Why we need foster carers

FOSTERS NEEDED - Little Marley is doing extremely well under the care of Corri, her foster parent. She is getting the one-on-one attention that we simply cannot give her at the shelter. Thanks so much Corri.
This is why we need more fosters, to care for the dogs that require extra special attention. If you'd like to consider fostering please message our Inbox, or check out the information on the Foster page.
Little Marley will be ready for adoption in about 3 weeks!
