Una Adopted!

Una adopted
It was bitter sweet today. Our little Una was adopted.
Una is the only surviving puppy of Gotel, a stray that we brought in for a C-Section as she wasn't able to give birth naturally.
We bottle fed Una from day one. Our night security guard Nica did overnight duty from the time she was born.
Letting her go today was difficult but we are happy that she has gone to May and her family.
May adopted Cassie from us in December and Cassie is thriving so we know she is going to a good home.
Goodbye little Una, you will be missed so much. You can read more about Una's story on her profile page here.

Lauren
Lauren
Young Lauren led a tragically short life, and one that need not have been so curtailed. She died on 3 February 2022 from total organ failure caused by the neglect of the family that had stepped up to adopt her late last year. Following her successful spay operation earlier this year, it took the intervention of neighbours to alert us of her infected operation wound and worsening condition.

Lauren
There is simply no excuse for the adoptive family who so badly let her down by not taking adequate care of her post-operation, and ignoring her serious deterioration for weeks on end.
It was heartbreaking to watch her deteriorate and not be able to do anything to save her. Thanks go to Jack and Aldwyn for sponsoring her and coming to visit her regularly. We are sure she felt your love. We gave her every possible medication and medical procedure that we could and also assigned 24 hour care.

Lauren
We just couldn't save her. Lauren was the sweetest little girl and her death was totally unnecessary. There are laws against animal abuse and neglect, but we have not the time or resources to pursue such a case. We welcome anyone who is willing to take on the filing of cases and raising funds to prosecute.
Rest in peace Lauren - you were loved so very much and we are sorry that the people entrusted with your health and safety were found to be so severely lacking in compassion, honesty and care. You deserved so much better.

River with Matty
Amidst all the angst we are going through with the Erlichia crisis we have some really good news! River was adopted! River is such a character and Blake who adopted Matty and Ophelia always had a soft spot for him so a few weeks ago she decided to adopt him. She came last weekend to get him.
We were initially worried as River can be moody and unfriendly at times and Matty, can be very possessive of Blake so we thought there might be adjustment issues. But there were none! All three adult dogs, with histories of extreme abuse immediately settled in with Blake. It's all about how you treat them and give them what they need.
So River has found his own pack and he is very happy!!!
These happy endings are only possible because people share their hard-earned money with us - every 10, 20 , 30 pesos adds up and allows us to keep the Sanctuary going, give the optimum care for the dogs and find homes which will allow them to thrive. Thank you Blake for all that you and your family do for DAS.
