Serena is loving the outdoors after surgery and therapy.
Serena is the dog we rescued from a sewer in January. She'd been hit by a car or bike and either fell or crawled into a sewer. She was there for around 3 days before we rescued her.
Her tail was lacerated to the bone and severely infected. She also has a fracture in her pelvic bone and her sacrum. We amputed her tail and used laser therapy for her pelvic bone and now she is in good health!

She is fully vaccinated and spayed. She would make a wonderful addition to any family - won't you be her 2nd chance? Please message our Inbox if you'd like to adopt Serena today.

On 7 March 2022, one of our board members Wing Jardeleza and friends  

rescued this poor dog in a terrible state.  Despite the chronic malnutrition and obvious mange, he had low red blood cells, low platelets and high white blood cell count indicating infection, most likely Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease.

He wouldn't eat any dog food so we had to go and get him some chicken, which he ate.  We had an amazing response to appeals for funds to treat him, with over 700 USD ( 36,470 pesos) in the last 12 hours for his care and also someone sponsored his stay at the shelter for the next year.

He settled in at the Sanctuary, receiving a good scrub and probably the first decent meals he had in months.

Despite all this, it seems that we were just too late in intervening, as Seth passed away at around 5:30pm on 8 March 2022.  Our staff check on new rescues every hour and Rachelle went to check on him at 5:30. He had vomited string and plastic bags and choked on them. He must have been so hungry on the streets that he was eating anything.
He was still alive but unresponsive when she found him . Staff administered oxygen and CPR but couldn't revive him.

We take comfort in the fact that he had a couple of good meals before he died.  It's so distressing seeing these poor souls suffer as they do.  Rest in peace Seth.
We will use the funds we raised to rescue another dog in great need that has been reported to us.

Here's some very happy news - Bonny has been adopted!!
We rescued Bonny from the grounds of Ace hospital on November 25th 2021 - just over three months ago. She had wounds on her legs and was very thin.
Now she is fully recovered, healthy, vaccinated and spayed and has also overcome the Ehrlichia that she had.
Thanks Lovely and Aicie for giving her a home and for coming to the Sanctuary so many times to connect with her before you adopted her.

Finally!   The last of Rubor's puppies has been adopted - Blush and her 8 siblings were rescued along with their mother Rubor, in December of 2021. They were reported to us by a student who found them on the grounds of a local college. They were dumped in a dirty cage.  Thank you Melanie for taking Blush into your family - we wish her a happy life!

Named in honor of the actor / comedian Pepe Herrera who chose DAS to be his beneficiary when he took part in TV5's popular Sing Galing ' Sing-lebrity' Edition. - videoke singing contest, Pepe the puppy) was adopted by Evan and Marjorie.  We were hoping this was a sign that the Pepe (the human) would win the contest and the Grand Prize, but that wasn't to be!  We are super grateful to Pepe the human) for nominating us and bringing in some much needed prize money of 50,000 PHP.  Pepe (the puppy) tested positive for parvo 2 weeks ago but never got sick and as the adopters don't have any other dogs he was safe to go.  Good luck in your new home Pepe (the puppy)!
