Patchie – Adopt a Stray

Patchie

Patchie when rescued

On 25 January 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we responded to a second emergency call for a hit and run victim.
We sometimes feel we are drowning and not getting anywhere, but slowly we are. There are fewer reports now from a year ago. And you don't often see too many emaciated strays.

Patchie's story is a common one.  Inattentive, speeding drivers, and poorly lit roads are the primary contributing factors.  Luckily for Patchie, the reporter agreed to adopt him once he is better.  He is getting there, and now has a home to go to, and not wander the streets getting tangled in traffic.

Zara and Zuri are one of a very small number of dogs who have been adopted, but for various reasons, these arrangements have just not worked out. We follow up on all our adoptees until we are sure that they are ok and settled into their new families. If we believe that they are not happy there - or unable to receive the standard of care that we expect, we bring them back.

Often the reason is that the new owners don't have the time to give to the rescues or that the work involved in looking after a dog was more than they anticipated. We carefully vet each adopter, and ask them to adhere to our Adoption Commitment, but sometimes things just don't work out. Regardless of the reason, the health and happiness of the adopted dog is our primary concern, and we will not hesitate to recover animals we feel would be better placed elsewhere. If you feel you have the space, time and commitment to give either of them another shot at happiness, please message us.

Nero – Adopt a Stray

On 27 January 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we rescued a young puppy with a broken left hind foot.  He was also in poor condition and infested with parasites.

Nero staged a remarkable comeback, and is now with his new owners heading for his new home.  If you know of a stray in distress, and can commit to providing a cage-free happy home, we will take them in, treat them, spay or neuter them, and return them to you to begin a happy life together.  See our Adopt a Stray Programme page for more details.
