What a great morning at Valencia! 10,240 pesos in donations and 3 adoptions!  Siblings Imani and Ivanna went home together and their sister India also found her home!!
Thank you so much for adopting our rescues and to those people who came to show their support and donated.
We are truly grateful!
Later in the afternoon we had a visit from Sander, who came to Dumaguete from Quezon City specifically to visit the Sanctuary and brought 2 sacks of food. It was lovely to meet you and show you around!

Roberto and Kizzy adopted!

Roberto and Kizzy Adopted!

Olga, Noel and Abby not only adopted Kizzy (now called Leena) on 26 February 2024, they also adopted old Roberto.

Kizzy was found dumped outside the Sanctuary, petrified and alone.  Olga immediately fell in love with Kizzy, who resembled a dear pet who passed away.

We found Roberto in January 2024 this year, lying in a field, virtually blind and with limited mobility. He's a really sweet boy who just likes to eat, sleep and potter around when he feels like it.
Look at his smile when he got to Olga's!  It's wonderful when we find a home for our seniors, they finally get to know what it's like to have their own family.
If you are considering giving an old dog a home please note that we cover all medical costs for our adopted senior dogs for the rest of their lives.

Monte – Adopt a Stray

Monte

Monte when rescued

Monte when rescued

On 25 February 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we rescued an adult dog who could not walk.  He was very placid and docile, which may mean he had owners previously.  His reporters agreed to adopt him when he is well, and we called him Monte.

We investigated his mobility issues, which over time disappeared, so maybe just some passing trauma.  We got him well fed and ready to begin his new life with his reporter.  He's still quite shy, but we're sure he'll settle down in his new home away from the noisy chaos of the Sanctuary!

Lagum – Adopt a Stray

Lagum

Midnight

On 25 February 2024, under our "Adopt a Stray" programme, we rescued a puppy in distress.  She couldn't stand up, and was crying in pain.  Her reporters agreed to adopt her when she was well, and called her Lagum.

We will investigate her mobility issues, and get her well fed and ready to begin her new life with her reporter.

Ralph

Ralph

Ralph RIP

Ralph RIP

Ralph was in really bad shape when we picked him up on 21 February 2024, with extreme anaemia and ehrlichia. Many of these street dogs have tick borne diseases , heartworm, worm infestation, mange and severe lack of nutrition.
We had hopes for Ralph as he was eating well when he came in. We are very cautious with emaciated dogs as we can't give them too much food initially, just small amounts at a time.

Unfortunately, two days later, Ralph passed away at 5:15 am in the morning. Lloyd, our Vet Assistant, was with him. We have four trained vet assistants on duty every night at the Sanctuary, monitoring our critical cases.
Although we can't be sure, we think that Ralph's heart stopped as he suddenly stopped breathing. There was no signs of distress.
Thank you Mary Jane for offering to adopt him when he was well.
Thank you to everyone who sent him donations and well-wishes.
Ralph you were so, so close to having a family of your own. Sometimes I think that when they feel safe and cared for, they let go.
Run free Ralph.
