Dizzy Adopted!

Dizzy adopted

Yay!!! Another adoption!
Dizzy was adopted by Maria and Alex, who adopted Babs off us a few weeks ago.
They wanted a playmate for Babs and chose Dizzy.
Thank you so much for adopting from us and enabling us to rescue more from the street.

Kiva adopted!

Kiva Adopted!

Kiva adopted

We were so happy to see little Kiva go to her forever home!  Adoptions have really slowed down over the past few months, which means we have to slow down on rescues. We are now at well over 200 dogs and 14 cats and kittens.
Please consider adopting from us, but also please understand that we have certain criteria that we won't compromise on just because we need puppies adopted - check out our Adoptions page for all the details.
Have a wonderful life with your new family Kiva!

Plum

Plum

We rescued a little puppy that was found wandering the streets with a broken leg on 24 June 2024. We only had her 4 days. We did the usual deworming and we're shocked by the sheer amount and size of the worms that came out of her tiny body. On 28 June 2024 she had a seizure and couldn't be revived. Doc Erica said its likely that the worms had already done too much damage. This poor little girl never stood a chance.

No doubt she was dumped by some irresponsible dog owner who can't be bothered to make the effort to stop their dog getting pregnant. Even if you can't afford sterilisation, twice a year you just have to keep your dog inside. How hard is that? So many puppies are dumped here it's tragic.
Run free little Plum. At least you got to eat well, feel safe and feel loved.
That's all we could do.

Cersei adopted!

Cersei Adopted!

Cersei adopted

Cersei adopted

We have some great news! Cersei has found her forever home!
Cersei was an abandoned dog - her owners apparently left her out on the street when they moved out of the area. She was first spotted just sitting on the side of a busy highway and taking shelter in a construction site.  You can read all about her on her profile page here.

As is common with recognisable breeds like Cersei, we had a many requests for adoption, despite her being spayed and unable to breed from.  We finally chose what we hope will the best home for her.
Her new owners have done so much to make sure she integrated well with their other dogs and now she has adjusted.
We are so happy for you Cersei!

Sheera

Dina

On Thursday 20 June 2024, at 1am Sheera lost her fight with cancer, had a seizure and died.

We rescued her because she was reported with a huge wound on her leg. When we assessed her and did tests, we found it to be a form of mast cell cancer.

Sheera RIP

The cancer had not spread and given her young age (around 2 to 3) we wanted to give her a chance. Amputation was not an option as the location of the cancer meant there would be no ability to close the surgery wound. We started her on chemotherapy and the tumor shrank a little but it was slow. We decided to use a different combination of chemo drugs.

We did consider euthanasia but she had such a good appetite and was in no obvious distress, we continued trying. It was a shock to us when she simply gave up the fight she had fought so bravely.
Run free Sheera. We hope you carry the love we had for you with you wherever you are
