DINA

Dina

In May 2024, we took in a poor dog with a very large swelling on the side of her face.  It must have been terribly painful and we just couldn't leave her in that state.  We named her Dina.

Dina's Story

On 17 May 2024, we took in a stray dog who in most other respects seemed healthy, were it not for the grapefruit-sized mass on the side of her face. It must have been very distressing for her, and getting in the way of her being able to eat.  We took her for x-rays and it appears that her lump is an infection perhaps caused by an injury of some sort to her mouth.  She must have been in terrible pain.

We put her on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs and hope the lump will soften so that we can drain if necessary.

She wouldn't eat for the first day so we tried to syringe slurry into her mouth. Right after that she started eating on her own, no doubt realising it was the better option.  We will decide the best course of action to return her jaw to normal over the coming weeks.
