LOLA

Lola

In September 2022 we received reports of an older dog girl wandering around a district called Mangao. She clearly could not see well, and had been hit by a car according to people in the area. Otherwise in good condition, it seems she has been abandoned by her owner.

Lola's Story

On 15 September 2022, we received reports of a poor blind older dog that was seen hit by a car. People in the area tied her to a gate so she wouldn't wander into the road again and left her food and water. We put out an appeal to find her owner but no one stepped up, and then it began to rain heavily.

Davey's infection

We were in a real dilemma due to increasing numbers of rescues at Sanctuary and pretty much zero funds but we couldn't leave her tied to a gate, scared, wet and waiting for an owner who clearly wasn't going to come.

Given her health conditions she was likely dumped on the street as some people do, which is illegal but commonplace in the Philippines.
She is now at the Sanctuary and as with all our rescues we are now committed to care for her for the rest of her life and shoulder all the expenses that will entail.

We did all the usual initial tests, distemper, blood tests, 4dx parasite tests and she tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasma.  She also has cancer (tvt) in her vagina, to add to her blindness, which may be treatable with a stem cell medication. She will need chemo and extensive treatment for her illnesses plus she has a fractured leg. Despite all this she is super friendly and comfortable around people, another indication she had an owner.

Lola Adopted!

Lola

Lola

We have some happy news!  Our lovely old lady Lola was adopted by Olga!  Lola was rescued around a year ago. She was clearly a dog who had an owner but she had been abandoned and tied to a gate. She had a fractured leg and was pretty much blind.
Her leg healed and we treated her eyes with sodago stem cell cream and her eyesight significantly improved.
She adapted to Olga's family and the other dogs really quickly and didn't give us a second glance when we left her there!
Olga has taken in a few of our dogs, especially older dogs.
She has a lovely big house and garden where they can relax, potter around and get the peace and quiet they need.
As with all senior dogs we cover vet costs for life so if you would like to adopt a senior dog but are worried about increasing vet costs as they age - don't worry we have it covered.

You can read more about Lola's life since rescue on her profile page here.
