Ralph
Ralph was in really bad shape when we picked him up on 21 February 2024, with extreme anaemia and ehrlichia. Many of these street dogs have tick borne diseases , heartworm, worm infestation, mange and severe lack of nutrition.
We had hopes for Ralph as he was eating well when he came in. We are very cautious with emaciated dogs as we can't give them too much food initially, just small amounts at a time.
Unfortunately, two days later, Ralph passed away at 5:15 am in the morning. Lloyd, our Vet Assistant, was with him. We have four trained vet assistants on duty every night at the Sanctuary, monitoring our critical cases.
Although we can't be sure, we think that Ralph's heart stopped as he suddenly stopped breathing. There was no signs of distress.
Thank you Mary Jane for offering to adopt him when he was well.
Thank you to everyone who sent him donations and well-wishes.
Ralph you were so, so close to having a family of your own. Sometimes I think that when they feel safe and cared for, they let go.
Run free Ralph.
