Rain was one of five puppies found abandoned in Bacong in April 2021. They were bought to the Sanctuary, and within a few days, Roddy, Reggie and Richie were all adopted.

Sadly, Richie fell ill and tested positive for distemper. He likely had it when he came into the Sanctuary but it’s not possible to test if there are no active symptoms, and it can take up to 6 weeks for first signs to show. Distemper is a terrible disease and is highly contagious. Rain also tested positive, and we immediately appealed for a foster to save her life as she could not stay at the Sanctuary because of the risk to the whole dog population.

Distemper is not contagious to humans so we were delighted when Emma and her partner took her in, with food and medicines provided by DAS.
Amazingly, Emma has adopted Rain, despite having distemper. We wish Rain, Emma and her partner good health and a happy life together.
