Roberto's Story
He seems to be blind and he has no teeth at all poor thing. Blood tests show that he has been receiving adequate nutrition though he is on the thin side, which always makes us suspicious that he was an old dog that has been abandoned. Strays tend to have low red blood cell counts.
He's likely around 12 years old or more.
He's been dewormed, put on medication, had his blood tested. He's not actually in too bad a physical condition given his age. His liver and kidneys seemed fine. He had some kind of inflammation going on but his red blood cell count is ok.
He had trouble walking so we took him for xrays, but there was nothing obvious.
In February 2025 we thought we'd found the ideal home for him, with someone who has adopted so many senior dogs, but after an unhappy time not mixing with the other dogs, and seemingly feeling very sorry for himself, we decided it was better all round to bring him back to the Sanctuary, with hope to try again.
