Rocky
On 8 December 2023, under our Adopt a Stray Programme, we rescued a dog who was destined to be adopted by their reporter once he had been returned to health by us. Sadly, his care needs proved to be beyond her adopter's capability, so he is now back with us.
Rocky's Story
When he was reported to us, Rocky crying in pain lying in the forecourt of a gas station. We picked him up and found that he had a broken leg that had already healed. The bigger issue was that his penis was totally rotting. There was no way to save it so the vets performed a penile amputation.
We have done this successfully with two of our rescues, Davey and Rascal so we know that dogs can live perfectly normal lives afterwards.
The person who reported him called him Rocky. He was not in the best condition for surgery but we had to go ahead or he would have died. He survived this procedure, and the subsequent amputation of his right hind leg, which was beyond rescue.

Rocky
It soon became clear that returning him to his previous situation was not going to provide him with the best chance of living a comfortable life, so he is now at the Sanctuary. We remain open to adopters who can step forward and give this sweet natured boy the home and care he needs.
