Percy
Rescued on 7 May 2022, Percy's hind left leg appeared to have been hacked off, and he was in poor shape. Amputation was necessary once he was fit enough to undergo the surgery, and he's now joined the happy band of "tripods" who appear to be able to get around just as quickly as they used to on 4 legs!
Percy's Story
Poor Percy, he must have been suffering for so long. The people who reported him say that they heard he was owned by someone who died and he was left to fend for himself. They have no idea what happened to his leg, but likely hacked off.
We rescued him on 7 May 2022, after the reporters managed to contain him so he couldn't escape.
Percy tested positive for Ehrlichia, Heartworm and Anaplasma which indicated a long treatment. Luckily and surprisingly his hacked leg was not infected. We did the amputation once we got his skin in good condition as he is full of mange. If his skin was not ok the surgery wound would not heal well when we amputated.
He recovered well from the amputation, and had a new lease of life! He's a very happy boy, loves attention and his walks!
