Gianni's Story
On 7 January 2024, we found an older dog collapsed by the side of the road. He was unable to help himself, and was very weak indeed. We didn't know what the matter was, but it's clear he would not have lasted long in this condition.
We ran all the usual tests, and suspected pancreatitis, but as further symptoms did not appear, and he had an appetite, we think he may just have been fighting an infection of some kind. While he was placid and docile during rescue, he really did not take well to being housed in the Clinic, and we very aggressive with any staff member.

After we neutered him, and he recovered, we decided the kindest thing was to return him to the streets - some dogs have too much trauma at the hands of humans to ever trust anybody. Keeping him in close contact with people was simply causing him stress. We tried to take him back to where we found him, but all he wanted to do was be outside the Sanctuary, where he will at least get regular feeds along with the other "external residents" like Bella, Phoenix and Princess.

With our concerns over our dogs' safety following threatening behaviours from persons still unknown, we bought him back inside, and he's now settled in comfortably to the central area of the Sanctuary. He is an affectionate old boy and we'd like to see him find his own home.
