Colin
Rescued on 29 March 2022, Colin was in desperate shape, but with the support of donations intended for another dog that didn't make it, he's made a remarkable turnaround. After the turbulence of his former life on the streets, he just likes the quiet life now, taking up residence in one of the old holding cages. Anything for an easy life!
Colin's Story
Using voluntary donations left over from a sadly unsuccessful attempt to save another dog, Victory, Colin was in terrible shape. He was being fed by Francis - who feeds a number of strays but who doesn't have funds to provide vet care. He asked us to help as he had no idea how to help the dog and after we learned that Vic had died - we decided to take Colin in.
He had a severe case of Mange, a maggot-infected ear, totally dehydrated and emaciated and also has Anaplasma. His CBC test showed high white blood cells indicating infection / inflammation. His red blood cells are low - showing Anemia. Doc Pierre kindly gave instruction to our assistants whilst on vacation, and they began their work.
Now he spends most of his time trying to lead a quiet life in one of the old holding pens, away from the noise and commotion in the rest of the Sanctuary. He's just an old gentleman who's seen some difficult times, so he doesn't always tolerate the presence of other dogs in his sanctuary, but he does allow one or two to share his hideout from time to time. We'd love him to find his own quiet retirement home, if anyone suitable could be found.
