Blanche
In August 2024, we were contacted by someone quite far from us, desperate to help a dog with a very swollen belly. As they were sure they could adopt her if she were well, we took her in under our Adopt a Stray programme. The reporter called her Blanche.
Blanche's Story
On 11 August 2024, we took in Blanche, originally an Adopt a Stray intake, as her reporter would be adopting.
Blanche was a stray quite far from Dumaguete and was being fed by Jesselah on the streets.
When Blanche's abdomen began to swell, Jessalah contacted us to see if we could help
She offered to bring Blanche to the shelter and find an adopter.
After 7 weeks of treatment for ascites, Blanche went to her new home with her adopter Jingle.
However, on the very first night she managed to escape and despite frantic efforts, Jessalah and Jingle could not find her. We were so worried about Blanche being back on the streets, we went to look for her and as soon as Rudylyn started calling her, she ran out from under a car. They were both so happy.
We decided to keep her with us. We might possibly be the only home she has ever had. She was clearly very happy to be back, tapping Basil repeatedly on his head. Thank you Jesselah and Jingle for caring and trying so hard to save Blanche. We have not given up home that Blanche may find another home, but for now, she has a home with us.
