WADI

Wadi

Wadi was reported to us in October 2022, yet another victim of a hit and run.  Her back legs were paralysed, but with therapy she is slowly regaining the use of them, and beginning to relax around our staff.

Wadi's Story

Found in the Water District of Dumaguete City, Wadi (arabic for a dry river bed) was reported to us in mid-October 2022.  She couldn't move her back legs and was very tired, scared, and understandably very anxious and nervous around our rescuers.

We always protect our rescuing staff with muzzles for the rescue, and heavy gauntlet gloves for handling.  Rabies is a constant worry, although all our staff are vaccinated as a precaution regularly

Her aggression started to wear off over the days, as she got used to her new surroundings and the kindness shown to her by the Sanctuary staff.  A few good meals also helped! She is becoming a sweet and happy girl despite the situation she finds herself in.

We hope with regular therapy and exercise her mobility will return - she does not appear to have any fractures, so she will regain her independence, maybe with a new home and family to take care of her properly.

Wadi We have to sadly report that although poor Wadi’s mobility issues were being addressed by the new hydrotherapy pool, she died suddenly of unexpected causes. This happens sometimes, and we just have to be grateful for our time with them, and that they knew love and care at the end.WadiYou can read all about Click to see post….
