MURPHY

Murphy

In June 2023, we were called to rescue a desperately ill dog at Valencia's dump.  Sadly, we were too late, but just in time for two others - a boy with bad Mange, Murphy, and a girl with terribly distended belly, Astra.  He has a case of severe Mange and was very close to suffering the same fate as the dog that died just as we were about to rescue him.

Murphy's Story

On 2 June 2023, we visited a dump site in Valencia to respond to reports of a dog in desperately bad shape.  Tragically as we were about to bring it in, it had a seizure and died.
While staff were trying to do CPR on the dog, they noticed a few other dogs in a similar condition.  One of them was Murphy.

Murphy

Murphy's mange was particularly bad, and he would not have lasted much longer without help.  He also tested positive for distemper but the line on the test was faint which indicates a low viral load. We brought him into the Sanctuary as with a positive distemper test, he can't go anywhere else.

Hes very wary still and does not trust us at all, but over the next couple of weeks he will very likely come around.
We were very grateful for the donations for
Astra and her surgery, but Murphy got very little in terms of donations because Astra's case was an emergency.
If anyone would like to donate for Murphy's continuing treatment we would be so grateful.

His skin is still bad but we expect to see a noticeable different in 7-10 days from now.

Murphy During the worst time any of us can remember, we had a number of dogs die suddenly of an illness we were never able to identify. They suddenly became lethargic and unresponsive and died shortly after. We rescued Murphy in June 2023 with one of the most severe cases of mange we have ever seen. Click to see post….
