Mikay was rescued in Feb 2020 from severe neglect and abuse.
She was in a very bad condition, and as she was around 10 years old, it's distressing to think how many years she endured like that.
Blind and deaf, she's now living out her remaining years in comfort at the Sanctuary.

mikay's STORY
Mikay was owned by some people who actually had a food stall, yet she was tied just next to it, starving, emaciated and hairless because of mange. She was already pretty old, around 10 years as far as we can estimate.

We brought her into the shelter and after an initial check up, treatment for mange and vaccinations, we sent her into foster care so she could get the one to one care she needed to help her recover.
She slowly regained her strength and her fur and put on weight. Mikay is almost completely blind and also cannot hear very well.

She is very bad tempered with other dogs and just wants to be left alone. She is also a bit snappy with people except for the shelter staff who feed her! We are happy to let Mikay live her days out at the Sanctuary, where all her needs are met and she will never go hungry again!

We have some really sad news to share. Mikay one of our oldest residents died 28 January 202at around 4pm.
We rescued Mikay 4 years ago from owner neglect and abuse.

Mikay being rescued
She was around 10 years old at the time and had been starved and was riddled with mange. She enjoyed almost four years of happiness and love at the Sanctuary until a few months ago when she developed cancer in her eye. We removed her eye and hoped that was it, but the cancer came back aggressively.
We wanted to give her one more chance with chemo and she had her first session last week. The growth shrank significantly and she perked up, looking like her old self. We thought that she would make it, but she passed peacefully this afternoon.
We didn't try to revive her. It was her time. Run free Mikay. We are so happy we were able to give you four years of food, walks, love and cuddles. Run free sweet girl.
