Bilbo was rescued from the streets in November 2022, obviously very old, and in poor condition. With the generosity of many donations, we were able to bring him and and give him some much needed care and attention, and hopefully give him a quality of life he hasn't seen in many years, if ever.

Bilbo's Story
We rescued Bilbo on 12 November 2022, along with two other old dogs we were able to raise funds to help - Frankie and Sansa.
Bilbo was very thin, with a big wound on his back and no hair as a result of severe mange. His blood tests showed he was in a critical state.

We took him to Animal Wellness for confinement so he could get the best possible care and attention. After a few days, his vital signs, stabilised, and he urinated a lot, which is good as this indicates his kidneys were being flushed, out hopefully removing toxins.

He is still in a critical state and with his extremely low red blood cell count and high kidney readings, he could pass away at anytime. But each day he survives adds hope for recovery. We will retest his blood in a couple of days to see if there is improvement.
He's not in pain and clinic staff say he is eating well which is always a good sign. Come on Bilbo, we are rooting for you!

Bilbo We have some really sad news. Bilbo passed away this morning. He stopped eating last night and his temperature dropped to 34 degrees. Bilbo RIPAlvin gave him a hot pack and managed to bring it back up to 37 degrees but then he went into respiratory distress and his heart stopped at around 0830am Click to see post….
