NATE

Nate

Nate is old - maybe 10 years or more when he arrived at the Sanctuary in February 2021.  He was suffering from Mange and malnutrition, but seems otherwise healthy.

He had an owner, but had not been cared for.  He adjusted to life at the Sanctuary, became more trusting and is now relaxing in his twilight years.

Nate

Nate's Story

Our regular fosters, Mike and Joy had been feeding Nate along with Norman for a while.
He has an old leg injury that does not seem to cause him pain or mobility issues.
He was quite wary of us and didn't seem used to human attention or touch.

Nate

He used to try to bite us if we went anywhere near him.  His blood results were surprisingly ok so there didn't seem to be anything majorly wrong with him.
Often if a street dog gets to an advanced age, they have strong immune systems!

Nate

Old street dogs find the adjustment to the Sanctuary quite difficult, they are so used to being free – foraging for food, avoiding danger - that sometimes they just lose the will to live, or spend their time trying to escape.

Over the time with us, he adjusted, but still likes the quiet life away from fuss and attention. That's OK with us Nate, you be you!
