MOXIE

Moxie

Moxy's story is a very painful one to tell.  She was rescued in July 2024 from a horrific situation that she had to endure at the hands of an abusive human being. She was very defensive when we rescued her, but has gradually calmed down as she works out that not  all human beings are monsters.

Moxie's Story

On 2 July 2024, late at night we received a video of animal abuse.  The neighbors who reported this abuse to us were terrified of repercussions and were afraid to report and give their names.

The following day we went to the local barangay office to and they took action straightaway. In total, there were two adult dogs, Moxie and Rosy, and two puppies who survived the ordeal who we called Wilma and Wayne.  The perpetrator was nowhere in sight, but we are talking to lawyers and the Police about finding this criminal and bringing him to justice.

Moxie

We often are faced with crimes against animals - mainly careless neglect or abandonment - and do not have the resources to pursue cases against those responsible as the costs and effort are simply beyond us as a charity.  However, this time we are going to do whatever we can to make sure the perpetrator is held accountable.

Moxie

Moxie is safe at the Sanctuary now, and is still coming to terms with her abusive treatment.  In time, we hope she can come to view us as friends who are trying to help - it's incredible how resilient animals can be in the face of adversity, but her barriers may take some time to tumble.  We believe that when they do, she will finally be able to relax in the company of other humans and she can put her horrific experience behind her.
