Lily

Lily was around 8-10 years old when she was surrendered to the City Vet for euthanasia in July 2019 because her owners just didn't want her . There was absolutely nothing wrong with her.

Despite this, she has a very sweet nature, and just needs a quiet place to relax and get attention once in a while.

Lily's Story

Lily was rescued in July 2019 from the City Vet as she was about to be euthanised. The vet said that her previous owners had brought her in to be put to sleep because she was old and they didn’t want her anymore. The vet called us and asked if we would take her.

Lily

She was clearly traumatized by the whole event as she was terrified when we brought her in. We were still building the Sanctuary at the time and didn’t have quarantine kennels so we let her sleep in the room that is now the vet clinic. She didn’t leave her mat for 3 days and wouldn’t look at us.

Lily goes for a walk

She started to become more sociable over the next couple of weeks and is now friendly, but still shy around potential adopters when they come to visit.

Lily

Lily

She is really good with other dogs and at times will get quite playful, but prefers to be in her place of quiet and let the younger dogs get on with doing ‘zoomies’ around the Sanctuary!  All she needs for her final years is a little kind attention and a quiet place to be.

Lily

Lily

She really is the sweetest dog and we hope one day we can find her a home as she would just love to be sitting next to her own human on the sofa!

March 24, 2021

Lily has not been too well this month as she has Erlichia which is a tick-borne disease that can be fatal if left untreated. We use anti-tick medication for all our dogs but it doesn’t stop the ticks biting and transmitting, it just stops them holding on to the dog.Signs that a dog has Erlichia Click to see post….
