HAMISH

Hamish

Hamish was in a very feeble condition when we picked him up in November 2022.  He would not have lasted much longer had we not.  With some Mange treatment and some proper nutrition, he regained that beautiful coat, and hopefully a few more comfortable years to his life.

Hamish's Story

We took Hamish in on 22 November 2022.  He was familiar to us from our local feeding rounds. We often give Mange treatment Nexgard to strays to cure their skin problems. If they are not so thin we know they have a food source, so tend to leave them as strays for the time being, but this poor boy was just too thin and wouldn't have survived much longer.

Mange is easily treatable, with a range of drugs, including Ivermectin which is readily available and extremely cheap, but we use Nexgard or Nexgard Spectra as this has the additional benefits of fighting off ticks, fleas, intestinal worms and some cases of heartworm.  Sadly, too many strays suffer from Mange, and their appearance, although easily remedied, is often interpreted by the public as something much worse, and they don't tend to intervene.

The solution of malnourishment is the right kind of restorative food, and plenty of it!  We feed all new rescues and puppies 3 times per day using Aozi organic canned food.  Click here to find out how you can help us feed all our inmates!
