GILES

Giles

In February 2024, we rescued a dog in an apparently horrific state, with his eyes completely obscured by angry red tumors.  With success in treating such tumors, we were hopeful of a recovery.  We called him Giles.

WARNING - GILES' TUMORS IN HIS EYES WERE SEVERE, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.

Giles' Story

On 11 February 2024, we received a report of a dog in a resort in Zamboanguita. He has TVT in his eyes and also in his genitals. Our long-term followers will understand what TVT is. But for those of you who don't, it's a cancer that is passed on through bodily fluids. It looks horrific, but is highly treatable.
We have had numerous cases before, ones that looked like the dog was too far gone, but with chemo, they completely recovered.

Although it looked like his eyes were destroyed, we believed they were still intact as he has been navigating his area well.  We were still a little worried about distemper at the Sanctuary but with recent 6 unavoidable puppy rescues the other day, we had no choice.

After just one chemo treatment, the tumors shrank considerably, and we are extremely hopeful of a full recovery.  We couldn't rescue seamingly "hopeless" cases like Giles without the financial donations, large and small, that keep hope alive for dogs like Giles.
