DEZI

Dezi

In February 2024, we took two puppies with head wounds.  In Dezi's case, the injury was quite severe, which has left him with some co-ordination issues.  Despite this, he made it through his early months, and a Distemper lockdown at the Sanctuary, and is now a happy, energetic dog waiting for his new home.

Dezi's Story

On 22 February 2024, we fund a pair of puppies abandoned near the Sanctuary.  We named them Dezi and Lucille.  His head wound was much worse than his sister's, and it took a while for the wound to heal over.

Sadly for them both, their early months after recovery coincided with another outbreak of Distemper in the Sanctuary, and so they missed their window when most of our dogs are adopted - early puppyhood.  This is such a shame, and a pressing problem for us, as the months slip by they become less attractive to most potential adopters.  There's no real logic behind this - after all, the character and nature of a young dog becomes apparent as they approach adulthood, so a potential adopter has a much clearer idea the temperament of their new family member.

They've also made it through their difficult early months and built some immunity - if they've made it this far given the beginnings many of them have had, then chances are they'll continue to be a robust and healthy animal as they move into adulthood.

Dezi is an affectionate, somewhat clumsy young boy who gets on well with other dogs, just needs to have a happy safe place to bump around in!
