ANNIE

Annie

Annie was born in March 2020 to Blanca, one of our earliest rescued dogs, in a litter of nine.  She and five others survived, two have been adopted, and she is one of four still waiting for their new home.

She is a little wary of strangers, but comes out of her shell when there are doggie snacks being handed out by the volunteers.  She would make an excellent companion for someone with patience to allow her to develop.

Annie's Story

Annie was born just outside the shelter to one of the dogs we took from the another Animal Welfare shelter in 2019.

Her mother Blanca was always very unsociable and escaped from the Sanctuary a couple of days after we brought her in.  She never went far but also never came close enough for us to catch her. She gave birth to nine pups outside the shelter in March 2020.  Three puppies died, six survived.

Despite being brought up in the shelter, all the pups were really unsociable – we just couldn’t get near them.

Annie was a little more sociable than the others but despite being beautiful-looking dogs, they always ran away from potential adopters.

We even put all the puppies in quarantine kennels for a few weeks to try to socialize, but it didn’t work – they were so resistant to human contact.

Annie

Annie was becoming more sociable, but one day she managed to squeeze past someone and run off outside the Sanctuary.  It took days to locate her, and when we managed to coax her back, she didn't settle back in with her old pack mates.

She likes quiet time away from the noise and bustle of the outside packs.  Maybe in time she will want more company again.
