MUTTLEY

Muttley

In November 2024, we rescued an adult dog in Cantile, who was reported wandering around looking lost.  He was in poor condition, but looked like he had an owner.  We posted locally to try to find anyone to claim him, but to no avail.  We called him Muttley.

Muttley's Story

On 2 November 2024, a male Shih Tzu was reported wandering around Cantile. He clearly has / had an owner as he was wearing a blue harness. He might be a beloved pet who got lost or he was dumped.

He was covered in thistles so we had to shave him completely.  He's been neutered, which is a good sign as he wasn't used for breeding.

Some weeks passed and no one has stepped up to claim him - we have had a couple of enquiries from potential owners, but it turned out Muttley was not their dog.  Someone did own him as he was found with a harness on, but no one has posted about losing him, which is so sad.

We took him to see Doc Gama at Animal Wellness to get x-rays and also to look at his eyes.  It was determined that his eye issue is not due to old age but trauma.  We can never know what Muttley has endured, but he is safe now.

He has a strange gait in his hind legs, but x-rays showed no injuries. It's likely a congenital defect.

We began to treat his eyes with drops and give him laser therapy for his mobility issues.  If you believe you can offer Muttley a loving and responsible home, or you know the owners, please get in touch.
