FRANZE

Franze

Franze post surgery

Picked up after receiving reports of an old dog living off scraps in Siaton with a massive tumor, Franze's rescue was made possible through generous donations to his treatment costs, and the happy adoption of a couple of dogs and kittens in the same week. The surgery was successful, and following his recovery, as an old dog he would be well suited to a calm and loving environment.

WARNING - FRANZE'S TUMOR AND SURGERY WERE SEVERE, SO PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR SOME DISTURBING IMAGES IF YOU SCROLL FURTHER.

Franze's Story

Reported in Siaton, tihs stray had the largest tumor of its type we think we have encountered so far.  Weighing in at 3kg, it was dragging and deforming the skin and neck of poor old Franze.

He is around 10 - 12 years old, and must have been suffering with this huge mass for a couple of years.

Franze pre-surgery

We appealed for funds to treat Franze and were delighted when the donations were totaled up - many were small change, but there were a lot of such donations, which can make all the difference.

Franze pre-surgery

He needed vaccinations, deworming, full blood panel, surgery, chemotherapy, neutering plus treatment for his infection and also treatment for his low red blood cell count, amounting to at least 40,000 pesos ($800).

After treating Franze for an infection, and hoping he was strong enough to survive surgery, Doc Pierre did the surgery to remove the tumor - it was a massive 3kg - so heavy for the poor boy to have been carrying round.  The surgery was long - over 3 hours but went well and we are hoping for a full recovery.
He is still very wary of us but is starting to warm up, and now also has a sponsor (thanks Jezeree!).
We would love to find an adopter for him. He's an old dog and needs the love of his own human and the comfort of his own home for his remaining years.
