DOBI

Dobi

Dobi was dumped on the road by someone who clearly had no regard for his health or happiness, and had clearly given up on him.  He was badly underweight, had numerous painful lesions on his feet, but despite all this remains a docile and well-tempered boy.  With care, he will grow up to be a very handsome boy indeed.

Dobi's Story

On 3 March 2023, we found Dobi lying by the side of the road, with an old collar on his neck, showing he had simply been left there to die.

Dangerously underfed, and with mainly painful sores on his legs and feet, we simply had to take him in and do our best for him, where others had so clearly let him down.

Hector

He was very emaciated and weak but when we got him back to the Sanctuary he ate a whole can of food. He was literally starving to death, but we had to carefully control his food intake in the early days so as not to shock his system more than necessary.  He was on IV fluids to combat his dehydration.

Dobi

We’re very grateful to so many people who sent donations to help cover his treatment and homing.  We desperately need more adult dogs adopted (though adopters still need to fulfil criteria - see our Adoptions page) so that we can continue to rescue dogs that are in critical states like Dobi.  Our resources and space at the shelter are NOT unlimited and without more adoptions we will not be able to continue as the amount and frequency of reports increase.

It really is heart-breaking to see how these poor souls are treated.  Dobi clearly had been suffering for such a long time, and then to be dumped alone, and afraid by the people who were supposed to care and protect him, is really inhumane.  It's amazing that he is still so good natured and trusting.
If you would like to adopt Dobi once he is recovered, vaccinated and neutered, or would consider adopting another adult dog - or puppy - please message us. Help us continue to be of service to the strays here in Dumaguete.
